Fundación Inatec
We are a not-for-profit foundation located in Legutio (Álava) Spain, specialising in research projects on environmental matters. Our activity is aimed at designing and developing new technology for recycling secondary raw materials.
Since 2004, we have been centralising the innovative activity of the companies in the Otua Group, reinforcing our leadership in the recovery of the materials contained in complex solid waste.
We have a leading technological potential in Europe and our mission is to help strengthen the competitiveness of the companies with which we collaborate.
Technological benefit
Our human and technical resources form a multidisciplinary team that is a European leader within the sector of secondary raw materials. Our activity focuses on the recovery of complex solid waste, which means we can offer the best solutions within this area.
We carry out our research projects from the creation of the idea to their implementation, undertaking the whole R&D journey.
Every year we take on internal research projects with the support of public institutions. Thus, we are able to apply the most innovative recovery technology in our field of action.
Our value
With the aim of moving towards a sustainable future, we work to design recovery systems that open up new routes towards the progress of the national and international recycling industry.
We are certified and recognised by the Directorate of Technology and the Information Society of the Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Basque Government as a scientific and technological representative integrated in the Basque Network of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Contribution to the development of the companies within the scope of R&D
Our mission focuses on contributing to the development of the competitive capacity of the companies with which we collaborate. Thus, we provide services to the main national groups devoted to recycling complex solid waste. Our tasks include:

Internal specialisation projects
At Fundación Inatec we cover the investments made within the Otua Group by creating new companies, new business lines and internal specialisation projects. The results of these projects are within the recycling sector, which enables us to be more competitive.
Since 2004, we have been undertaking different internal research projects including the start-up of the companies Refial and Resal.
Our projects have the support of the Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Basque Government, the Provincial Council of Álava, the Basque Water Agency, the company ihobe SA.
Integrated quality and environment management system
At Fundación Inatec we have an external certification for our integrated quality and environment management system according the Standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
